Red, pink, and white love

Red, pink, and white are such happy colors.

Following a quiet dinner at home last night, we had these for dessert.

Last September, I posted the story I wrote about the first time Casey stated he was in love with me here.  It is fun to capture special memories by pen...or in this case Microsoft Word.
Hope you had a great Valentines Day, and I hope you celebrate love every day.

Bran muffins

These have become something that I make fairly often.  We enjoy them for breakfast and snacks.  A pan of twelve only lasts a few days around us...

(found on allreceipes.com)

  • 1 1/2 cups wheat bran
  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • *I never have buttermilk - substitute it by measuring out 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice into a measuring cup and filling the remaining part of the cup with milk

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins

  • Directions:
    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners.
    2. Mix together wheat bran and buttermilk; let stand for 10 minutes.
    3. Beat together oil, egg, sugar and vanilla and add to buttermilk/bran mixture. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir flour mixture into buttermilk mixture, until just blended. Fold in raisins and spoon batter into prepared muffin tins.
    4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Smear a little cream cheese on top...

    mmm...hmm...

    I'm back

Well, I have returned from my unannounced absence.  I didn't mean to skip out on blogging for so long - it just kind of happend.
Tax season is here, so once back from Christmas break I started working full time, we've traveled almost every weekened since we've been back from the holidays, I'm obsessed with reading The Hunger Games (half way through book 3), there was a death in Casey's family, we've had seasonal colds, and friends are getting married!  All of this leads to no blogging time.  However, I don't want to give up on tracking our lives, so I am striving to make more of an effort to pop on and say hey, more than twice a month.

    Small recap of January:
Last month Casey and I both celebrated turning 24.  I was born on Janurary 14th, and he was born the 16th.  I am two days older than him. Therefore, I make a point to tell him every year that I am older and wiser.  He always replies with, "Well, I am younger and more fun!"  One day when we have kids, they'll probably agree with him.  I've already accepted it, no worries.

My mom purchased delicious cupcakes from a local bistro in Cleveland called Crave.

Strawberry cake is one of the best in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I chopped all of my hair of last Friday.  So, it look a little different from the above picture.  I am donating it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  I feel five pounds lighter, and it's not just because I have less hair.  Someone in need will be getting a wig made with real hair.

Hope all of you have a great week!
