"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus." Luke 24:1-3
This past Easter weekend we drove up to the Delta on Saturday morning. The weather was perfect, and we really enjoyed driving the entire trip in daylight. Normally, we are driving in the evenings, and well, the sun never forgets to set. That afternoon I made two different types of cupcakes: sour cream poundcake cupcakes with lemon-lime glaze, and peanut butter banana cupcakes.
The shape of the cupcake is not nearly as pretty as in the cook book. Typical.
Easter morning we arose around 6:00am for the sunrise service, came back to Mom and Dad's for breakfast, had some "down time," and then went back for the traditional service. It was wonderful be up so early and feel prepared for worship.
After church and before lunch, we took pictures.
Stephen's college friend Matt was also with us for the weekend.
I think Matt and Stephen look more like brothers than Aaron and Stephen do. Hmm, that means that Matt also looks more like my brother than Aaron does. But then again, we've had this discussion before about many people looking more like us than our own younger brother. We honestly don't know where Aaron's handsome yet different looks came from.
I want to end with a footnote that is in my study Bible about the Resurrection of Jesus.
"Christianity rests on the certainty of Jesus' resurrection as an occurrence in history. The Gospels have it as their goal, with the empty tomb and resurrection appearences, and Acts insists on it. Paul regarded the Resurrection as indisputable proof that the message about Jesus as Judge and Savior is true (Acts 17:31; 1 Cor. 15:1-11,20). Jesus' resurrection demonstrated His victory over death, vindicated Him as righteous, and indicated His divine identity. It led to to His Ascention, and His present heavenly reign. It guarantees the believer's present forgiveness and justification, and it is the hope of eternal life in Christ for the believer."
