Time in Tennessee

Last Thursday we left for Nashville, TN - for fun, and then drove to Smithville, TN - to see our friends Hunter and Micha get married.  We had a blast from the time we left till the time we came home!  We did not want this trip to end.  But if it never ended, then it would not be real, grown-up life. So, both of us headed back into work yesterday morning.

Here's a re-cap of some of our adventures.

First of all, when Casey and I were looking for a hotel to book in Nashville, we were astounded at the prices per night.  An average hotel room price for one night was around $450.  We knew there had to be something going on in Nashville during this particular weekend.  We continued our room search, and as it turns out, one of the much less expensive options ended up being the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.  We couldn't believe it.  We would have thought that booking a room at the Hampton Inn would have saved us money, but not in this case.  Upon our arrival to our hotel we quickly realized that the CMA's and Bonnaroo Music Festival were taking place.  There were people everywhere wearing CMA passes and other concert passes.  The hotel staff was surprised that we had come up for a wedding and not for music.  The Opryland hotel is beautiful.  There was almost too much to take in.

This is where we pulled up and had our luggage unloaded.

The lobby.

These next few shots are all inside.  The heart of the hotel is an atrium.  I feel like Pioneer Woman.

The water fountain show was put to music, and was amazing to watch.

There were so many restaurants.
We choose to eat at the Jack Daniels restaurant.
It was good.  Casey got the 1/2 chicken.
I got the club sandwich, but the picture turned out blurry.

We stepped outside for a little walk after dinner.

Just a couple components of the Opryland complex.

The next morning before heading over to Smithville, we stopped next door to see the Grand Ole Opry.  Guess who was going to be performing that night?  Lauren Alaina from this season of American Idol.  We really wanted her to win...

Strumming ha ha.

I'm going to have to do a part 2 post of the rest of the weekend, because this one has taken awhile!
Got to go finish laundry.  Have a great Tuesday!
